Leader in Data Stream Networks to Present at Microchip MASTERs Conference

SAN FRANCISCO — August 19, 2015 — PubNub, the leading Data Stream Network for IoT, mobile and web apps, today announced extensive support for Microchip Technology’s portfolio of 32-bit PIC® microcontrollers (MCUs). Microchip developers using its MPLAB® Harmony integrated software framework can now easily add real-time, bidirectional communications to Microchip’s PIC32 MCUs. PubNub’s global and secure Data Stream Network simplifies the deployment of Internet of Things (IoT) projects, such as remote control of devices, monitoring of and data collection from sensors and home or industrial automation. PubNub will provide additional information at its training workshop during Microchip’s 2015 MASTERS Conference taking place August 19-22 in Phoenix, Arizona With PubNub’s easy-to-use APIs, developers can quickly add real-time communication over wired, wireless and mobile IP networks. PubNub works seamlessly through firewalls with a security model that guarantees no open ports on IoT devices. Additionally, IoT developers can implement critical features including remote device control, secure firmware upgrades and plug-and-play device provisioning. PubNub’s advanced features include device status and metadata monitoring, fine-grain access control, message storage and playback, stream syndication, and automatic data catch-up on unreliable networks. “The immense growth in IoT projected over the next five to ten years calls for a reliable and scalable communication infrastructure that empowers developers. Building real-time infrastructure is difficult and costly, so leveraging a data stream network not only decreases the cost of connecting devices in the field – it also speeds time to market,” said Todd Greene, CEO of PubNub. “We’re looking forward to working with Microchip and its customers to create amazing IoT products.” “With PubNub’s global Data Stream Network, Microchip developers can quickly and easily add real-time communications to their IoT and mobile designs, securely and with the ability to scale in the real world,” said Rod Drake, vice president of Microchip’s MCU32 Division. “By integrating their solution into our MPLAB Harmony firmware development platform, PubNub is speeding the IoT design process and helping customers drive innovation in their PIC32-based IoT products.” PubNub will be teaching an interactive evening class at Microchip’s Worldwide MASTERs Conference on August 20 that will walk participants through the steps of building a real-time Internet of Things (IoT) application using MPLAB Harmony and a PubNub® PIC32 SDK. Attendees will learn the tenets of connecting devices to PubNub’s global Data Stream Network (DSN) via bi-directional TCP communication. Other features such as encryption, Presence Detection, Device Status, Channel Multiplexing and Access Management will be discussed. To register, please visit https://secure.microchip.com/mu.
